The World’s Largest Outdoor Chandelier, a 20-foot-high glittering light, is the centerpiece of Cleveland, Ohio’s Playhouse Square. To draw more visitors to the theater district in downtown Cleveland, officials decided to hang the massive fixture in 2014. Later that year, it was certified by Guinness World Records as the World’s Largest.
The chandelier, the creation of Baltimore designer Danny Barnycz, is “strung with 4,200 crystals of light-catching acrylic resin,” according to Cleveland.com.
It weighs 8,500 pounds and is held aloft by steel and aluminum arms. It is particularly beautiful at night and draws plenty of attention from locals and tourists alike.
The World’s Largest Indoor Chandelier hangs inside the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque located in the Arabian city of Oman. It weighs 8.5 tons, according to ClassicalChandeliers.co.uk.
